Chennai, May 26:

Leader of Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin has taken a sharp swipe at Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, questioning whether the people of Tamil Nadu should “mentally prepare for disappointments” under the present government.

In a strongly worded remark, Udhayanidhi raised concerns over the functioning of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government, suggesting that its actions and decisions so far have failed to inspire confidence among the public.

The criticism comes amid escalating political attacks from the opposition against the ruling dispensation over governance and law-and-order concerns. Udhayanidhi has been consistently targeting the government, recently flagging a rise in criminal incidents and questioning administrative effectiveness.

He also cast doubts on the stability and credibility of the government, pointing out that it came to power without a clear majority and relied on post-poll alliances—an arrangement he has earlier described as fragile and prone to contradictions.

The remarks further intensify the political confrontation between the ruling TVK and opposition parties, with both sides trading allegations over governance, mandate, and public welfare, even as the state navigates a politically volatile phase following the closely contested 2026 Assembly elections.
