New Delhi, Aug. 26:

US-based gangster Goldy Brar has reportedly claimed responsibility for the killing of pro-Khalistan figure Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in June 2023, according to a purported leaked audio conversation with another pro-Khalistan operative, Paramjit Singh Pamma.

In the alleged conversation, Brar reportedly claimed that Nijjar was targeted over his alleged involvement in drug trafficking and the promotion of drug abuse among young people.

Intelligence sources have reportedly said that the voice in the audio has been identified as Brar’s, though the contents of the purported recording remain part of an ongoing investigation.

Brar is wanted in India in several criminal cases, including the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala.

The alleged admission has emerged amid continuing international attention on Nijjar’s killing and the broader issue of transnational organised crime and extremist networks operating across borders.

Nijjar was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, in June 2023. His killing subsequently became a major diplomatic issue between India and Canada.

The reported audio claim could add another dimension to investigations into the motive and individuals involved in the killing. However, the authenticity and evidentiary significance of the alleged conversation would have to be established by investigating agencies.
