Chennai, Sept 15:
HR&CE Minister S Ramesh on Monday accused the DMK of resorting to abusive remarks and spreading false information under the guise of protests, and said the TVK government would initiate legal action against those making derogatory comments against Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, ministers and the public, particularly women.
Speaking to reporters at Tiruchy airport, Ramesh said the Opposition had every right to stage protests in a democracy but alleged that DMK leaders were using such occasions to make “filthy comments” and spread fake information. He claimed that speaking abusively had become part of the DMK’s political culture and alleged that party president M K Stalin had developed the party in that manner.
The Minister also alleged that a former HR&CE Minister had made derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister, the public and women, and said legal action would be taken. On complaints about frequent unscheduled power cuts, Ramesh dismissed them as a “fake narrative” of the DMK.
Responding to criticism from AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami over Vijay’s London visit, Ramesh termed it baseless. He said the Chief Minister had travelled to London with the objective of taking Tamil Nadu’s sportspersons to the global arena and also inaugurated a car race involving actor Ajith Kumar.
