Chennai, Nov 16: In a recent twist of events, the Greater Chennai Police (GCP) has come forward to challenge the claims made by Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai regarding the increase in goondaism in the state. Annamalai had asserted that the rise in such criminal activities was indicative of the success of the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) government. The police responded by posting a video on social media, refuting Annamalai’s allegations and shedding light on a specific incident.Ā
Annamalai, through his social media channels, had shared concerns about the escalating lawlessness, citing examples such as “petrol bombs, broad daylight murders under the influence of alcohol and drugs, unsafe streets for women, and a rise in goondaism.” He directly attributed these issues to what he referred to as the “corrupt DMK government.”
Ā
However, the GCP took a proactive stance by posting a video that contradicted Annamalai’s narrative. The video, presumably related to a specific incident, aimed to debunk the claim made by the BJP president. The incident in question involved the alleged assault on a manager of an eatery in Chennai, reportedly by a group of individuals demanding protection money.
Ā
The police, through the video, sought to present their perspective on the incident, challenging the characterization of the event as an outcome of the alleged rise in goondaism.Ā
