“Since the DMK came to power, 1,012 projects have been implemented under the ‘Singara Chennai 2.0’ initiative at a cost of ₹901 crores,” said Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin.
At a function held at Ripon Building yesterday, Udhayanidhi handed over appointment orders to 453 newly recruited doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers, including 106 individuals selected on compassionate grounds under the Chennai Corporation.
Additionally, he inaugurated 17 completed projects worth ₹29.88 crores, which include a dog population control center, school buildings, and restored water bodies. He also laid the foundation stone for 493 new projects worth ₹279.50 crores.
Deputy CM Udhayanidhi lauded the efforts of the Chennai Corporation during the recent heavy rains, emphasizing its efficiency in handling the challenges.
“All flyovers in Chennai were constructed during the DMK regime. The Classical Tamil Park and Metro Rail projects were also implemented under our leadership. Furthermore, the North Chennai Development Projects, worth ₹6,000 crores, are currently underway,” he stated.
He highlighted that in the past three years, significant progress has been achieved under the ‘Singara Chennai 2.0’ initiative, with 1,012 projects completed at a cost of ₹901 crores. These include the construction of sidewalks and sports grounds.
Future Projects in Progress:
Development of 41 new water bodies.
Construction of 10 health walkways.
Installation of 7,644 new street name boards.
Renovation of 148 schools.
Establishment of 12 cattle sheds.
Udhayanidhi also stressed the importance of collective efforts in driving Chennai’s growth further.
“Chennai belongs to everyone. Together, let us elevate this city to greater heights,” he concluded.
