The Tamil Nadu BJP State unit has accused the DMK government of negligence over its failure to clear outstanding internet bills amounting to ₹1.5 crore to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The dues, related to internet services provided to government schools and educational offices, have allegedly put these services at risk of disconnection.BJP state president K. Annamalai on Monday issued a scathing statement criticizing the state government’s inefficiency. He pointed to a circular from the Joint Director of the Department of School Education, which instructed Chief Educational Officers across districts to immediately settle the pending dues.
“The joint director’s circular is a damning indictment of the DMK government’s inefficiency and lack of accountability,” Annamalai said. “It is appalling that the government has failed to settle the dues despite repeated reminders, putting the education of thousands of students at risk.”
Annamalai also called out School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi for allegedly denying the existence of pending dues. “It is shocking that the minister is denying the pending dues despite the evidence provided by the joint director’s circular. This raises serious questions about the minister’s credibility and the government’s commitment to transparency,” he added.
The BJP leader accused the DMK government of prioritizing publicity over performance, claiming that its focus on propaganda had led to administrative inefficiencies. “The DMK government’s obsession with showcasing ordinary events as achievements has resulted in poor functioning across departments. The people of Tamil Nadu are bearing the brunt of this misplaced focus,” he said.
