Virudhunagar cracker unit blast: Death toll rises to three

Two more workers succumbed to burn injuries sustained in an explosion at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Chinnavadiyur near Virudhunagar, raising the death toll to three.
The tragic incident occurred on February 5, instantly killing a worker, Ramalakshmi (50) from Pandalkudi, and injuring six others. Following the explosion, Vachakkarapatti police registered a case and began investigations.
On Wednesday, two more workers, Veeralakshmi (34) of Athiveeranpatti and Simon Daniel (33) of Meenampatti, lost their lives while undergoing treatment. Veeralakshmi was admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Virudhunagar, while Simon was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Madurai.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion, and safety concerns at firecracker units remain a pressing issue in the region.
