Tamil Nadu BJP president K. Annamalai has announced a 90-day signature campaign from March 1 to gather public opinion on implementing the three-language policy in the state.
Accusing the DMK of misleading people by portraying the policy as Hindi imposition, Annamalai pointed out that private school enrollments (56 lakh) surpass government school enrollments (52 lakh). He highlighted that private school students have multiple language options, while government school students are restricted to Tamil and English.
He also claimed that the private school sector in Tamil Nadu is a ₹30,000 crore industry and questioned the DMK’s role in it. The BJP’s campaign aims to push for equal language opportunities for all students in the state.
Annamalai emphasized that the three-language policy would provide students with better opportunities in higher education and job markets, enabling them to compete at the national and international levels. He urged the public to support the initiative, stating that linguistic diversity should be seen as an advantage rather than a political issue.
