Tamil Nadu experienced widespread rainfall over the past 24 hours, with Kallakurichi district receiving the highest amount of rainfall at 160 mm. Several regions recorded significant downpours, bringing much-needed relief while also raising concerns over waterlogging and potential flooding.
In Kallakurichi district, Thiyagadurugam received the highest rainfall at 160 mm, followed by Kallakurichi town with 146 mm, Komugi Dam at 120 mm, Kalayanallur at 110 mm, Virugavur at 91 mm, and Sankarapuram at 63 mm.
Meanwhile, in Thiruvarur district, the Taluk office recorded 88.5 mm, while Needamangalam received 74.8 mm, and Kudavasal recorded 64.2 mm of rainfall.
Additionally, in Pudukottai district, Avudaiyarkoil witnessed 69.6 mm of rainfall. The widespread rainfall across the state has led to increased water levels in reservoirs and rivers, with officials closely monitoring the situation.
Authorities have advised residents in low-lying areas to remain cautious as further rainfall is expected. Emergency teams have been deployed to handle any disruptions caused by the heavy rains.
