Seeman slams Dravidian ideology as fake

In a recent statement, Seeman, the leader of the Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), criticized the Dravidian political ideology, labeling it as “fake” and “artificially constructed.” He pointed to ongoing caste-based atrocities in Tamil Nadu, despite over six decades of Dravidian party rule, as evidence that the ideology has failed to eliminate caste discrimination and uphold social justice.

Seeman’s remarks were prompted by a violent incident in Vadakadu, Pudukkottai district, where two individuals from different communities clashed, resulting in one person sustaining a machete injury. While the police attributed the altercation to personal animosity fueled by alcohol, Seeman dismissed this explanation as “shameful,” arguing that such incidents reflect the persistent caste tensions in the state.

He further criticized the Dravidian parties for their claims of eradicating caste and promoting social justice, asserting that the continued prevalence of caste-based violence undermines these assertions. According to Seeman, the Dravidian ideology has not only failed to address caste disparities but has also perpetuated a false narrative of social equality.

Seeman’s comments have sparked discussions about the effectiveness of Dravidian politics in addressing caste issues in Tamil Nadu. While the Dravidian movement, led by figures like Periyar, has historically championed the rights of marginalized communities, critics argue that caste-based discrimination remains a significant challenge in the state.

The incident in Vadakadu and Seeman’s subsequent remarks have reignited debates on the role of Dravidian ideology in contemporary Tamil Nadu politics and its impact on social justice and caste dynamics.
