CM kicks off DMK’s poll campaign in Trichy

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin officially commenced the party’s campaign for the 2026 Assembly elections with a significant rally in Trichy. The event featured a roadshow and the unveiling of a statue honoring legendary actor Sivaji Ganesan.
The roadshow began at the Head Post Office and proceeded through key city areas, including the Government Hospital, Thillai Nagar, Salai Road, and Karur Bypass, culminating at the Kalaignar Arivalayam. Thousands of DMK supporters lined the streets, demonstrating strong backing for the party’s initiatives.
During the rally, CM Stalin unveiled a statue of Sivaji Ganesan near the actor’s native place, Villupuram, in the presence of his son, actor Prabhu. This act was seen as a tribute to the cultural icons of Tamil Nadu and a nod to the state’s rich artistic heritage.
In a closed-door meeting with party functionaries, Stalin emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization and the dissemination of the DMK government’s welfare schemes. He highlighted the party’s strategy of collecting daily reports from constituency in-charges to monitor public response to government initiatives. These reports are reviewed every three days by a team led by Udhayanidhi Stalin, utilizing professional analytics to refine campaign strategies.
The DMK’s choice of Tiruchy as the launchpad for their campaign is symbolic, as the city is often referred to as ‘Thiruppumunai Trichy’ (Turning Point Trichy) by party founder M. Karunanidhi. This move underscores the party’s intent to replicate its previous electoral successes by focusing on central regions of the state.
Looking ahead, the DMK plans to hold its General Council meeting on June 1 in Madurai, where the party’s blueprint for the 2026 Assembly elections will be unveiled. The strategy includes organizing 1,244 public meetings across Tamil Nadu, with each Assembly constituency assigned a full-time party in-charge to ensure effective grassroots implementation. The election cell, spearheaded by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, will oversee these operations.
As the DMK gears up for the upcoming elections, the party is focusing on expanding its outreach through both traditional methods and digital platforms, aiming for a comprehensive victory in the 2026 Assembly polls.
