Mumbai saw heavy rain on Monday morning. A few hours of nonstop rain led to waterlogging in many low-lying areas and railway tracks.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had warned about thunderstorms and strong winds. Rain hit especially hard in the island city part of Mumbai.
Water flooded railway tracks on the Central Railway line. Stations like Masjid, Byculla, Dadar, Matunga, and Badlapur were affected. This slowed down train movement during rush hour.
Central Railway’s spokesperson Swapnil Nila said local trains were running, but at slower speeds in some places. Many people complained that trains to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus were late.
Western Railway said its trains were mostly on time and there was no water on their tracks. But some passengers still reported delays.
