The Maharashtra government has cancelled its new rule on the three-language policy after public backlash. The rule had proposed adding Hindi as the third language in primary schools.Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the decision was made in a cabinet meeting. He said a new committee will be formed to study how the language policy should be implemented.
The committee will be led by Dr. Narendra Jadhav and will consult all stakeholders before giving its report.
“We are cancelling both old orders on this policy. For us, Marathi remains the key language,” Fadnavis said.
