Tamil Nadu is currently experiencing a sharp rise in temperature, with weather forecasts predicting further increase in the coming days. The state is likely to witness temperatures climbing up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit), as the southwest monsoon shifts northwards through Maharashtra. This weather pattern, combined with alternating southerly and northerly winds, is contributing to the heatwave.Trichy is expected to record temperatures around 39°C (102°F), while Madurai is likely to face even more intense heat conditions. The rising temperatures in both cities are a matter of concern, with Madurai predicted to continue experiencing a heatwave for the next few days.
Weather experts say the current heatwave could last for five more days across Tamil Nadu. However, a slight drop in temperature is expected in most places after two days ā except in Madurai, where the heat may persist.
Due to the rise in temperatures, there could be occurrences of thunder and lightning in parts of the state. Additionally, with the shift in westerly winds, there is a chance of isolated rainfall in one or two regions today. More widespread rainfall is expected after August 3, bringing some relief from the scorching conditions.
