Sengottaiyan takes a dig at Palaniswami

Expelled AIADMK leader K.A. Sengottaiyan on Sunday invoked the compassionate and forgiving leadership of party founder M.G. Ramachandran and former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, indirectly criticising current general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Speaking to reporters in Gobichettipalayam, Erode, Sengottaiyan said the sacrifices of MGR and Jayalalithaa had nurtured the AIADMK, adding that their humane leadership continues to inspire cadres even today. “But many have forgotten the gratitude they owe to this movement,” he remarked. Reaffirming his simple lifestyle and decades of service, Sengottaiyan said, “Those who toil for the party can never be stopped,” while recalling how Jayalalithaa once sold her jewels in 1989 to support the party during its testing times.
