Two killed as truck hits South Korean market

A truck ploughed into pedestrians at an outdoor market in Bucheon, South Korea, on Thursday, killing two and injuring 18, officials said. Nine of the injured were seriously hurt. The victims were taken to hospital, though it was unclear if any injuries were life-threatening. Police are questioning the unidentified driver, in his 60s, who was reportedly not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Witnesses said the truck initially reversed about 28 meters before moving forward 150 meters, striking pedestrians along the way. The truck collided with a storefront, leaving debris including toppled boxes, clothing, and broken signboards. Bucheon city will help restore damaged facilities, conduct safety inspections, and provide psychological support for affected merchants and witnesses.
