The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has commenced its initial meeting to draft the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The session was held today under the leadership of DMK Member of Parliament Kanimozhi, who is heading the special committee entrusted with preparing the manifesto. The meeting took place at the DMK headquarters in Chennai’s Anna Arivalayam, marking the first formal step in shaping the party’s promises and strategy ahead of the state polls. With the tenure of the current assembly nearing its end and the Election Commission already initiating preparations for polls to be held by May 2026, political activity in Tamil Nadu is gathering pace.
The manifesto preparation committee is tasked with outlining key policies and welfare commitments that the DMK plans to present to voters. In addition to internal discussions, party leaders are expected to engage with various interest groups and sections of the public across the state to gather feedback and suggestions, which will help to inform the final manifesto document.
The decision to form a dedicated team for the manifesto reflects the DMK’s approach to systematically prepare for the electoral battle ahead, as it seeks to retain power in the state. The committee’s work will closely align with broader pre-poll preparations by the party, including alliance negotiations and outreach initiatives.
The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are expected to be highly competitive, with the ruling DMK, the opposition AIADMK along with other regional parties and alliances intensifying their groundwork. The manifesto will play a central role in communicating the party’s vision and development agenda to the electorate.
