Filmmaker Vincent Selva, known for directing popular Tamil films such as Priyamudan (1998), Iraniyan (1999), Youth (2002), Jithan (2005) and Perumal (2009), has officially taken over as the director of Subrammani. The film was initially being helmed by Jithan 2 director Rahul Paramahamsa, with Vincent Selva originally serving only as the writer. The makers shared new working stills from the sets on New Year’s Day, confirming the change. The pictures showed Vincent Selva directing filmmaker-actor Mysskin, who plays an important role in the film. Interestingly, this marks a special reunion as Mysskin had earlier worked as an assistant director under Vincent Selva during the making of Vijay’s Youth.
Subrammani is touted to be an action thriller centered around a Belgian Malinois dog, a breed widely known for being used in military operations. The film’s team revealed that this is the first time such a dog is being featured in a Tamil film, and lead actor Richard Rishi spent several weeks training and bonding with the animal to perform the sequences authentically.
The film also stars Natty in a crucial role, with Divya playing the female lead. Jasper and Swaminathan are part of the supporting cast. Bankrolled by S Productions, Subrammani has cinematography by Akhilesh and Sunder Ram Krishnan, music by Sanuka, editing by Sujir Babu, and stunt choreography by Rambo Vimal.
