Pudukottai, Jan 6: Tamil Nadu minister S. Regupathy launched a strong critique of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying the BJP leader has no place in the politics of the state and asserting that the party’s influence will not grow in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing reporters, Regupathy dismissed the BJP’s recent rally and said Amit Shah will not succeed in the state’s political landscape, using a local idiom to suggest the party will not prosper here. He accused the BJP of trying to influence local politics ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections but said the people of Tamil Nadu will not support such efforts.
The minister also touched on a number of political issues including criticisms of opposition leaders, alliances and comments on Central government funding, arguing that Tamil Nadu has been unfairly treated in allocations compared to other states.
Regupathy reiterated his party’s confidence in the state government’s agenda and said there is no reason for the DMK to be concerned about political rhetoric from rival national leaders.
