Gaza, Feb 1: At least 30 Palestinians, including women and children, were killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza on Saturday, according to hospital officials, marking one of the deadliest days since the ceasefire came into effect in October. The attacks occurred a day after Israel accused Hamas of new ceasefire violations and just before the Rafah border crossing with Egypt is set to reopen, a key step in the next phase of the truce.
Hospitals reported strikes on multiple locations, including an apartment building in Gaza City, a tent camp in Khan Younis, a police station in Gaza City and areas of the Jabaliya refugee camp.
Casualties included two women and six children from different families. Nasser Hospital said a strike on the tent camp sparked a fire, killing seven people, including a father, his three children and three grandchildren.
Shifa Hospital reported that an apartment building strike killed three children, their aunt and grandmother, while an airstrike on a police station killed at least 14 people, including police officers, civilians and detainees.
