As Tamil Nadu gears up for the upcoming Assembly elections, T. T. V. Dhinakaran, leader of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), on Tuesday announced that he will not contest the polls. He clarified that his sole objective is to ensure the formation of an “Amma” government in the state, inspired by the style of administration of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, in alliance with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Addressing reporters, Dhinakaran asserted that “99.9 per cent” of Jayalalithaa’s supporters have united under the NDA banner to defeat the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in the state. He described the DMK regime as “anti-people” and termed it an “evil force” that must be voted out.
“Today, 99.9 per cent of Amma’s supporters have united under the NDA. We have come together as one to defeat the anti-people regime of the DMK,” Dhinakaran said, emphasising that there would be no discord within the alliance and that unity remains the priority ahead of the crucial electoral battle.
