Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), asserting that its dream of returning to power for a second term in Tamil Nadu would āturn into a nightmare.ā Expressing confidence ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, he said the next government in the state would be formed by the NDA.
Addressing a massive NDA rally in Madurai, Modi said the people of Tamil Nadu had made up their minds to vote out the DMK, accusing it of dynastic politics, corruption and poor governance since coming to power in 2021. He alleged that the ruling party had failed to meet public aspirations and had pushed the state backwards in key sectors, including civic administration in Madurai.
The Prime Minister also raised concerns over law and order, claiming that crimes against women were rising and that drug and alcohol mafias were destroying families. Promising strict action, he assured that an NDA government would prioritise safety, good governance and womenās empowerment.
Highlighting economic prospects, Modi said recent international trade agreements would benefit Tamil Naduās textile, electronics, seafood and MSME sectors, creating jobs and opening global markets. āWe will ensure a developed Tamil Nadu and a developed India,ā he said, concluding his address.
