Chennai, Apr 1:
VCK leader Thol. Thirumavalavan has clarified that he is contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections only as an MLA candidate and is not aspiring for any ministerial position.
Responding to political speculation, he said his primary aim is to return to the State Assembly and raise the voice of marginalised communities, rather than seek power or a ministerial berth.
Thirumavalavan emphasised that his focus remains on strengthening his party and contributing to the alliance, adding that his decision to contest reflects a commitment to state-level politics.
He also reiterated that his role would be guided by party principles and public service, dismissing claims that he is aiming for a ministerial post if the alliance comes to power.
The remarks come amid ongoing political discussions and speculation over seat-sharing and leadership roles within the DMK-led alliance ahead of the Assembly elections.
