Chennai, May 2:
Conflicting exit poll predictions have left Tamil Nadu’s political landscape on edge, with both the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam putting up a brave front, even as Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by actor-politician Vijay celebrates a promising debut projection.
DMK leaders, despite internal anxiety, dismissed the exit polls and expressed confidence of securing over 180 seats. Chief Minister M K Stalin, in his first reaction, asserted that the party’s governance and welfare measures would be rewarded, saying “good news awaits” on counting day. He maintained that his confidence was based on ground reality rather than poll projections.
The AIADMK, led by Edappadi K Palaniswami, also rejected the exit poll forecasts predicting defeat, urging cadre to remain confident and calling such surveys “diversionary tactics.”
Meanwhile, TVK cadres are upbeat after favourable projections, with Vijay holding discussions with candidates amid concerns over post-poll stability.
Adding to the political churn, the Indian National Congress signalled a more assertive role, stating it would no longer remain a passive player in State politics.
