Chennai, June 25:
In a move aimed at modernising public grievance redressal, Rajmohan, the School Education Minister of Tamil Nadu, has introduced an electronic petition (e-petition) system at his office in the Secretariat. The initiative is designed to reduce paperwork and improve the efficiency of handling public complaints.
The newly launched digital platform allows visitors to submit their petitions electronically instead of relying on traditional paper submissions. Users can briefly describe their grievances or even upload a voice note explaining their concerns, though both features remain optional. Officials noted that this system would ensure quicker registration, processing, and tracking of petitions received by the minister’s office.
In addition to the e-petition facility, a token-based visitor management system has also been implemented to streamline appointments. Visitors can register using a QR code at the Secretariat and will receive a token number along with an allotted time slot based on the minister’s availability during grievance hours. This is expected to significantly reduce waiting times and overcrowding.
Officials stated that these measures are part of a broader effort to enhance transparency and efficiency in governance. Rajmohan, who also holds the portfolios of Tamil Development and Information and Publicity, emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to improve public service delivery.
