Chennai: National Health Authority (NHA) has announced the roll out of the new initiative of patient classification systems through ICD-11 (International classification of disease) and ICHI (International Classification of Health Intervention) for Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) scheme.
An announcement in this regard was made at the Southern Region Review Meeting in Mamallapuram. The two-day meet which concluded Friday saw the participation of top dignitaries from the southern States, including Tamilnadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian.
NHA is implementing body for two flagship central schemes Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). During the event NHA launched the new version of Health Benefit Package (HBP) 2022 under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) scheme. The new version has added 365 new procedures taking the total package count to 1949. With HBP 2022, differential pricing is being introduced for the first time under the scheme based upon the type of city and level of care. Another key feature which was announced during the event is the pilot launch of Diagnosis Related Grouping (DRG).
NHA Chief Executive Officer Dr R S Sharma said Tamilnadu stands as an example in implementing the health schemes.
He praised the State for the successful implementation of CM health card. He was addressing the media on the sidelines of ‘Ayushman Sangam’. Dr Sharma said the main discussion held on the meeting was to create empowerment of the beneficiaries.
He said Ayushman card will be given to all the members of the beneficiary family so that they will have a sense of empowerment while visiting the hospital. Apart from that two new schemes ICD and ICHI have started.
Tamilnadu has the second highest utilisation under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY and has the most effective utilisation of claims reimbursed under AB PM – JAY to the public hospitals. The State has further fostered an innovative PPP model whereby a dedicated agency has been onboarded to operate and maintain the medical infrastructure at public hospitals.
