A Tamil remake of Hindi blockbuster Badai Ho, Veetla Vishesham is entertaining dramedy that holds our attention all through. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Bay Shore, it stars RJ Balaji, Sathyaraj, Urvashi, Aparna Balamurali, KPAC Lalitha, Pavithra Lokesh, Visvesh and others.
Director duo of RJ Balaji and NJ Saravanan have chosen to retain the essence of original and made minor tweaks to suit Tamil audience. The film tells the story of a middle-aged couple who get pregnant, much to the disappointment of their sons.
RJ Balaji reprised Ayushmann Khurrannaâs role, while actors Sathyaraj and Urvashi stepped into the shoes of actors Gajraj Rao and Neena Gupta respectively. Aparna Balamurali of Soorarai Pottru is seen playing the female lead in the film.
Elango (RJ Balaji) is a biology school teacher who is happy with his life. His father works in the Railways, and is a stingy person. One day, Elango’s mother becomes pregnant, and the entire family is embarrassed about it. How they deal with this unexpected pregnancy forms the plot of the film.
Three cheers to Urvashi and Sathyaraj. They play their part well. RJ Balaji plays it subtly and adds enough flavour. Aparna is adequate for the role.
Cinematography by Karthik Muthukumar (DOP) and art by Vijayakumar go hand-in-hand. RJ Balaji’s dialogues are hilarious at places and evokes emotions towards climax. Girishh Gopalakrishnan’s music deserve a special mention.
Veetla Vishesham is a feel-good entertainer.
