Chennai: In a recent development, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai voiced strong criticism against Chief Minister MK Stalin, accusing him of neglecting his responsibilities amid the ongoing flood crisis in the southern districts of the state.
Annamalai’s comments came as the Chief Minister attended an I.N.D.I. Alliance meeting in Delhi while massive floods wreaked havoc in the southern region.
Annamalai drew a striking parallel between Stalin’s actions and the historical reference, stating, “The CM of TN, who is expected to monitor and be on the ground to facilitate relief for the people affected by the flood in the Southern districts of TN, is busy attending I.N.D.I. Alliance meeting in Delhi. The famous saying ‘Nero played a Fiddle while Rome burnt’ comes to life with the act of MK Stalin.”
The BJP leader further alleged that Stalin sought an appointment with the Prime Minister as a last-minute cover to divert attention from his real agenda for the trip to the national capital. This accusation raises questions about the Chief Minister’s priorities during a critical time for the affected communities.
Annamalai did not spare Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, who is the state Minister, for his role during the crisis. The BJP chief criticized Udhayanidhi for accompanying a Tamil film director during a visit to flood-affected areas in Tirunelveli. Annamalai drew parallels with a past incident in Maharashtra, stating, “TN CMâs son deputed on his behalf, lands to monitor the Flood relief with a Film Director, striking similarity to a former CM of Maharashtra who brought a film producer outside Oberoi Hotel while the shooting & bombing were happening during 26/11.”
The BJP leader’s remarks suggest a lack of confidence in the state government’s approach to handling the flood situation, expressing skepticism about the relief efforts reaching the affected regions in southern Tamil Nadu.
