At the Vikravandi conference of actor Vijay’s newly launched party, TVK, the party’s key policies and action plans were announced, laying the foundation for a progressive Tamil Nadu.
Core Mission
The primary goal of TVK is to create an equal society that transcends divisions based on religion, caste, race, language, gender identity, and economic background. TVK aims to uphold the individual, social, economic, and political rights of all people living in Tamil Nadu.
Language and Employment Policies
The party emphasized giving priority to Tamil-medium education for government employment opportunities. TVK also advocates for a transparent, corruption-free administration in both the public and private sectors, free from political interference. TVK’s focus extends to ensuring that education, healthcare, clean air, and safe drinking water are fundamental rights accessible to all. Protecting natural resources and the environment is seen as a top government responsibility.
Rational Thinking and Social Reforms
The party promotes rational, progressive thinking and rejects any regressive or backward ideologies that could harm the physical and mental well-being of individuals. In line with this, TVK calls for the abolition of untouchability by eradicating outdated, oppressive customs.
Environmental Sustainability and Climate
Resilience TVK envisions a state with environmentally friendly, sustainable development to address climate change challenges.
Substance-Free Tamil Nadu
The party also aims for a substance-free Tamil Nadu by eliminating the social evils associated with drug abuse and supporting the mental and physical health of the populace.
Administrative Reforms
TVK commits to a corruption-free administration in both the public and private sectors, without any political influence. The administration will be guided by secularism, gender equality, and caste-free principles.
Key proposed reforms include:
Establishing behavioral guidelines for MLAs and ministers.
Setting up a Chief Secretariat branch in Madurai.
Implementing principles of social justice and secularism.
Actively opposing the caste-based Varna system, as it contradicts the values of equality and social justice.
Conducting a caste-based census to ensure fair and proportional representation for all.
Providing a safe and inclusive environment for minorities based on caste, religion, and language, while focusing on the upliftment of scheduled castes, tribes, and other historically marginalized communities.
Promoting a bilingual policy of Tamil and English for the state, with Tamil as the official language.
Taking concrete steps to make Tamil the language of proceedings in Tamil Nadu courts.
With these policies, TVK positions itself as a forward-thinking party committed to fostering a more equitable, inclusive, and corruption-free Tamil Nadu.
