H. Raja, the state coordination committee leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, criticized government ministers for neglecting their presence at graduation ceremonies. He stated, “Ministers can express their thoughts and opinions at the university graduation events. Ignoring these ceremonies is not acceptable.”Speaking in Karaikudi, Sivagangai district, Raja commented on the political landscape surrounding Vijayakanth, the leader of the DMDK (Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam), saying, “Vijayakanth has a long way to go in Tamil Nadu’s political journey. It’s only been a day, and there is no excitement. He seems confused ideologically. Those who are confused in their policies cannot provide clear political guidance. The Dravidian parties are the landlords of uncivilized politics.”
Raja further criticized the DMDK leader’s impact on politics, mentioning, “Even the legendary Sivaji Ganesan, born for acting, could not make a significant mark in politics. If the public has decided that Vijayakanth is not needed in politics, what can be done? Some people believe that they can only remain in politics by echoing what the DMK says.”
He expressed disappointment over the absence of higher education minister K. Ponmudi from graduation ceremonies, emphasizing that education ministers should recognize the importance of their students receiving degrees. “They should come and share their views and insights at these events. Ignoring graduation ceremonies is unacceptable,” he added.
Raja also condemned the culture of hatred in politics, stating that the true essence of Dravidian ideology lies in representing a place rather than an ethnicity. “Dravidianism signifies a location, not a race,” he concluded, reinforcing his stance on the need for politicians to engage meaningfully with educational institutions and their milestones.
