The Public Works Department (PWD) has decided to install additional CCTV cameras in government hospitals following a recent incident that has raised concerns among the medical community. In a shocking event at a specialized government hospital, Dr. Balaji, an oncologist, was attacked with a knife after being accused of not providing adequate treatment. This violent incident has left doctors and medical staff in a state of fear and concern for their safety. To prevent such occurrences in the future, medical associations have urged the installation of CCTV cameras in hospitals to enhance security measures.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Public Works Department by the Health and Family Welfare Department, which oversees the welfare of government hospitals. Acting on these concerns, the PWD has decided to immediately install surveillance cameras in hospitals that currently lack this facility.
The move aims to bolster security and ensure a safer environment for doctors, staff, and patients, providing both accountability and deterrence against potential acts of violence.
