A special court in Chennai has summoned Tamil Nadu Forest Minister K. Ponmudy and his sons, Gautham Sigamani and Ashok Sigamani, to appear on March 19 in connection with a money laundering case linked to illegal red sand quarrying.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary complaint with 26 additional documents against them. The case stems from a 2012 DVAC complaint, alleging that Ponmudy, as Minister for Mines and Minerals (2007-2011), enabled illegal quarrying in Villupuram, causing a ₹28.36 crore loss to the exchequer.
The ED previously raided Ponmudy’s properties and questioned him. It has now filed a 90-page charge sheet, escalating legal pressure on the minister and his family.
