In view of the Good Friday holiday falling on April 18, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced that metro train services will operate as per the Saturday schedule on the day.According to the announcement, metro trains will run from 5:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During peak hours—8:00 AM to 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM—trains will be available every 6 minutes. In non-peak hours, including 5:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, trains will run every 7 minutes. For late-night commuters, trains will operate every 15 minutes between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
Meanwhile, CMRL reported a significant rise in ridership in March. The metro system recorded 92.10 lakh passengers during the month, marking an increase of 5.44 lakh compared to February.
CMRL continues to witness steady growth in daily usage, with its efficient scheduling and extended service hours offering convenience to commuters across Chennai.
