Agni Entertainment’s debut Tamil production The Verdict, a courtroom drama starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, had its trailer launched in Chennai on May 13. Directed by Krishna Shankar, the film was shot entirely in the USA and impressively wrapped up in just 23 days.The event saw heartfelt speeches from the team, including producers Prakash Mohandas and N. Gopi Krishnan, who thanked their US-based support system and praised the cast’s dedication.
Actor Yugi Sethu called the film “neat and slick,” while veteran Chitra Lakshmanan lauded director Krishna Shankar’s theatre-rooted filmmaking. Suhasini Maniratnam shared her emotional connection with the film, appreciating Varalaxmi’s authentic portrayal and Krishna’s calm directorial style.
Lead actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar spoke about the challenge of modulating her fast-paced English to suit the courtroom tone. Actor Parthiepan likened The Verdict to a Hollywood film in quality and praised the team’s swift execution.
Featuring a talented ensemble cast including Sruthi Hariharan, Suhasini Maniratnam, and Vidyulekha Raman, The Verdict is set for theatrical release on May 30. With cinematography by Arvind Krishna and music by Aditya Rao, the film promises a gripping and tightly-written courtroom experience.
