Trichy, May 15: Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran has criticized the DMK-led state government, asserting that it must take full responsibility for a reported 52% increase in crime across the state over the past year. Speaking to reporters in Trichy, Nagendran highlighted the surge in serious offenses such as murder, robbery, and sexual assault, attributing the rise to the government’s negligence and the prevalence of alcohol abuse.“The state government has failed to address the growing crime rates,” Nagendran stated. “Their inaction and lack of attention to law enforcement have emboldened criminal activities. The increase in crimes is a direct result of the government’s apathy.”
Nagendran also welcomed the recent court verdict in the Pollachi sexual assault case, describing it as a step towards justice for the victims. He emphasized the BJP’s stance that all criminals must be punished, regardless of their political affiliations.
In addition to domestic concerns, Nagendran addressed national security issues during a ‘Tiranga Rally’ in Trichy, expressing strong criticism of Pakistan’s actions. He warned that continued hostilities could have severe consequences, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment that “water and blood are not the same,” underscoring the importance of national security.
Nagendran’s remarks come amid growing public concern over safety and law enforcement in Tamil Nadu, with calls for the state government to take more decisive action to curb the rising crime rates.
