Air India is facing its biggest crisis since the Tata Group took over three and a half years ago. On Tuesday, the airline cancelled seven international flights due to various problems and faced technical issues with another major flight.Six international flights were cancelled because Indiaās aviation regulator, DGCA, ordered enhanced safety checks on the airlineās Dreamliner aircraft. One more flightāfrom Ahmedabad to London Gatwickāwas cancelled due to the unavailability of an aircraft.
The Delhi to Paris flight was cancelled after issues were found during pre-flight checks. Other cancelled flights included Bengaluru to London, London to Amritsar, Delhi to Vienna, Delhi to Dubai, and Mumbai to San Francisco.
In a separate incident, the San Francisco to Mumbai flight had to stop at Kolkata early Tuesday morning. One of its engines developed a technical fault, and passengers were asked to deplane.
These disruptions come at a time when investigations are underway into a major Air India tragedy. On June 12, a flight bound for London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad. The crash killed more than 270 people, both on board and on the ground.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of the crash.
