AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has levelled serious allegations against the DMK government, accusing it of using government officials to collect mobile numbers of citizens for political purposes.
Addressing the media in Salem, EPS claimed that the DMKās IT wing was misusing the data collected under government schemes like “Ungaludan Stalin” (With You, Stalin), which asks citizens to submit their phone numbers. āThis is not about public service but a clear attempt to gather voter data ahead of the 2026 Assembly Elections,ā he said. āFor four and a half years, the DMK failed to address people’s issues. Now, in the name of outreach, they are pushing propaganda and trying to lure voters through flashy advertisements.ā
EPS also condemned an alleged planned attack on an AIADMK councillor who had exposed corruption in the Salem Municipal Corporation. āWhen we raise peopleās problems, DMK responds with violence. The council is a place to speak for the people, yet even that is being stifled. This governmentās model is to file cases against the victims, not the perpetrators,ā he added.
Highlighting widespread dissatisfaction, EPS said the AIADMKās state-wide tour was gaining overwhelming public support. āPeople have already made up their minds to remove the DMK government. Corruption is rampant in every department. Our campaign reflects the growing public anger and desire for change,ā he said.
On the upcoming elections, EPS stated that a strong alliance led by the AIADMK will be formed and expressed confidence in winning the 2026 Assembly elections with a majority. He also asserted that once the AIADMK comes to power, investigations would be launched into the irregularities and misgovernance during the DMK regime.
