A bomb threat targeting the residence of actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay in Neelankarai early Sunday morning was declared a hoax, confirmed by local police.Around 5:20 a.m., an anonymous caller informed the Chennai Police Control Room that a bomb had been planted at Vijay’s East Coast Road home. In response, a bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs were dispatched to investigate.
After nearly one hour of meticulous inspection, authorities found no explosives. The site was cleared, and officials officially classified the threat as false.
A case has been filed by the Neelankarai Police, and investigations are underway to trace the source of the call.
The incident occurred shortly after a similar bomb hoax threat to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, which also turned out to be a false alarm. Investigations in Mumbai have similarly been launched.
