Former Tamil Nadu BJP state president K. Annamalai has criticised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and the ruling DMK government, urging them to implement previous election promises before drafting a new election manifesto.Annamalai highlighted the case of around 40,000 youths who passed the 2013 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) but have still not received employment. These aspirants have been protesting repeatedly over the years without action by the state government, he said.
He noted that in the 2021 election manifesto, the DMK had promised through Promise No. 177 that these qualified candidates would be appointed, but no substantive steps have been taken so far. As a result, the youth remain disappointed, and many are staging their 100th protest demanding jobs.
Annamalai accused the DMK of misleading voters with “false commitments” and of focusing on forming a new manifesto committee instead of fulfilling the pledges made five years ago. He stressed that the government should abandon the idea of drafting a fresh election manifesto and instead deliver on its earlier assurances, particularly issuing employment to the TET-qualified candidates immediately.
The BJP continues to voice support for the ongoing protests and demands, backing the qualified candidates in their struggle for jobs, he added.
