The upcoming Tamil film Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil, starring Jiiva in the lead, has been scheduled for a festival release on Pongal Day, January 15, 2026. The makers announced the news officially on social media, capitalising on the extended holiday movie window created after the postponement of Jana Nayagan.Directed by Nithish Sahadev in his Tamil film debut, Thalaivar Thambi Thalaimaiyil was originally slated to release on January 30, but the date was advanced to January 15 to suit the festive audience and cinematic celebrations. The producer, Kannan Ravi, shared a message describing the film as a “special, quality Pongal entertainer” that audiences of all ages can enjoy together.
The film also marks Jiiva’s 45th project, and he has been actively involved in its promotion. While plot details remain under wraps, promotional materials hint at him portraying a politician, and the movie is being presented as a warm family drama with emotional and comedic elements.
Featuring a technical team that includes cinematographer Bablu Aju, composer Vishnu Vijay, and editor Arjune Babu, the film has already received a U certificate from the Censor Board, clearing it for release during the holiday period.
