Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday emphasised the pivotal role of women voters and party workers in ensuring the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) returns to power in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Speaking at an event in Thanjavur, he described women as “brand ambassadors” of the party’s governance and welfare initiatives. Addressing a gathering after unveiling the statue of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in Sengipatti, Udhayanidhi highlighted the DMK’s historical focus on women’s rights and empowerment. He said Karunanidhi was instrumental in championing women’s causes such as right to property, and credited current Chief Minister M.K. Stalin with continuing that legacy through schemes aimed at improving women’s welfare. With just two months to go before the Assembly polls, Udhayanidhi appealed directly to women to actively campaign for the party, urging them to spread awareness of the government’s achievements and engage more closely with communities ahead of voting day. He asserted that women’s support will be crucial to the DMK’s victory and vowed that the party would once again form the state government based on its track record. The remarks come as the DMK ramps up its election campaign across Tamil Nadu, with leaders emphasising welfare schemes and grassroots mobilisation to strengthen their electoral prospects.
