Chennai, Apr 16:
The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Thursday launched its statewide black flag protest against the proposed delimitation exercise, with the agitation set to continue for three days.
Led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, the protest began today with party cadres and supporters hoisting black flags at their homes, streets and party offices as a mark of opposition.
The DMK has called upon people across Tamil Nadu to participate in the symbolic protest, stressing that the issue concerns the State’s rights and representation at the national level rather than any single political party.
Party leaders said the agitation will continue over the next three days, with black flags and similar symbolic expressions of dissent expected across districts.
The protest comes amid escalating political opposition in Tamil Nadu to the Centre’s proposed delimitation exercise, which the DMK alleges could weaken the State’s voice in Parliament.
With the campaign season intensifying, the three-day protest is expected to further sharpen the political narrative around State rights and federal balance.
