US President Joe Biden’s comment that Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot remain in power has drawn sharp reactions from Moscow and created a flutter globally. Biden said of Russian President Vladimir Putin during a speech that this man cannot remain in power. But Biden has said would make no apologies and wasn’t walking anything back. The US President drew ire from Republicans back home, who questioned why he was going ‘off-script’ while dealing with a serious conflict.
Biden noted that when he said those remarks, he was talking to the Russian people. The last part of the speech was talking to the Russian people telling him what we thought. I was communicating this to not only the Russian people, but the whole world. This just stating a simple fact that this kind of behaviour is totally unacceptable, he said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that neither NATO nor US President Joe Biden aim to bring about regime change in Russia. When asked whether Putin’s removal is in fact the real aim, Scholz replied, This is not the aim of NATO, and also not that of the American President. Scholz added, We both agree completely that regime change is not an object and aim of policy that we pursue together.
