After a long gap, Ajith is back to his familiar territory – playing an anti-hero. Thunivu promises plenty of action with Ajith appearing all through. Directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor, it is a vigilante film quite like director Shankar’s works. But quick unfolding of events makes it interesting. It is a bank heist thriller with an interesting plot at its core. Ajith, Kanmani (Manju Warrier) and their gang, comprising three more members (Amir, Pavni and Ciby), are contract thieves with an excellent track record. They are extremely efficient and have access to the best technology, arms and everything a hi-fi thief needs. One day, Ajith and his gang get approached to carry out a mission to rob Your Bank, headed by Krish (John Kokken). Ajith and his gang decide not to accept the proposition. However, the situation lures them in and they unearth a huge scam. What happens next form the rest. Ajith is the scene-stealer. He has done his part well. He brings back the swag of Mankatha. Manju Warrier has a meaty role to do. John Kokken, Samuthirakani, GM Sundar have a part to play. Ghibran’s BGM adds right momentum to.the story.Vinoth has explained bank scams in detail and sequences are portrayed close to reality. Dialogues go hand-in-hand with the story. Thunivu may remind one of Shankar films but Vinoth ‘s writing provides the difference.
