The state of school education in Tamil Nadu has come under scrutiny as BJP State President K Annamalai expressed strong criticism of the DMK government’s governance during his En Mann and En Makkal yatra.
Annamalai contended that the quality of education in government schools had deteriorated significantly, leading to several pressing issues.
According to Annamalai, government schools in the state have struggled to provide quality education, resulting in students’ inability to perform well in competitive examinations. Furthermore, many higher and higher secondary schools lack basic infrastructure, which hinders the overall learning experience for students. A recent report indicated a staggering total of 18,000 vacancies in schools, emphasizing the urgent need to fill these positions to enhance the quality of education. Annamalai highlighted that despite the high number of qualified teachers available in the state, the School Education Department has failed to address these staffing shortages.
Annamalai did not spare criticism for School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, stating that he has not effectively managed his department. Under his leadership, the efficiency of the department has reportedly declined. Annamalai questioned Poyyamozhi’s priorities, suggesting that the minister has been spending more time attending cinema-related functions than addressing the critical issues plaguing the state’s education system.
