Chennai: Former Governor and senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan made headlines with her strong remarks on the current political scenario in Tamil Nadu, particularly targeting the ruling DMK party.
Speaking to reporters after her visit to the Lord Venugopalswamy Temple in Gopalapuram, Tamilisai asserted that actor Rajinikanth’s recent comments have stirred up significant unrest within the DMK.
“A change will come soon. Actor Rajinikanth’s comments have created a cyclone in the DMK,” Tamilisai said, hinting at potential shifts in the state’s political landscape. While she did not elaborate on the specifics of Rajinikanth’s comments, her statement suggests that the veteran actor’s influence remains potent in Tamil Nadu’s political discourse.
Tamilisai Soundararajan did not hold back in her criticism of the DMK’s internal dynamics, particularly regarding the treatment of senior leaders within the party. She expressed concern over the diminishing respect for veteran DMK leaders like Duraimurugan, the party’s senior Minister and long-time stalwart.
“He is a tall leader. DMK’s hardworking senior, brother Duraimurugan is now working under CM Stalin and next will work under Udhayanidhi. This is why the BJP says ‘No’ to succession politics,” Tamilisai remarked, taking a clear dig at the DMK’s leadership structure. She also questioned the seriousness of Udhayanidhi Stalin’s statements, contrasting them with the weight of Rajinikanth’s words.
Tamilisai also addressed the ongoing friction between BJP state president K. Annamalai and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. Responding to queries about Annamalai’s recent criticism of Palaniswami, she emphasized the importance of mutual respect among political leaders.
“The state president has the right to express his views and take decisions. But the words should not be too harsh. We must respect other leaders. But it is the Karyakarta’s (party worker’s) responsibility to accept the state president’s opinion,” Tamilisai stated, striking a balance between supporting her party leader and advocating for respectful political discourse. She further added that the primary objective should be to remove the DMK from power in the 2026 elections.
