Trichy, Oct 24: A controversy has erupted in Tamil Nadu following remarks made by Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) coordinator Seeman regarding the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu, the official Tamil anthem. The incident occurred after a recent event in Chennai, where Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi participated, and certain lines of the anthem were reportedly omitted, sparking widespread debate in the state’s political circles.Commenting on the issue, Seeman stated, “Is there such a big uproar over the omission of two lines from the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu? When I come to power, there won’t be a Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu at all.” His statement has since triggered strong backlash from various quarters, accusing him of disrespecting the anthem.
In response to Seeman’s comments, government lawyer Muralidharan from Manapparai filed a complaint with Trichy district Superintendent of Police (SP) Varunkumar, accusing Seeman of making remarks that disrespected the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu. Muralidharan’s complaint stated that Seeman’s words had caused mental distress and called for strict action against him.
SP Varunkumar, acknowledging receipt of the complaint, assured that appropriate legal action would be taken. Given the prior tensions between Seeman and the SP, this latest development has raised concerns over whether the situation might escalate further.
The controversy has added fuel to the ongoing political discourse surrounding the Tamil Thaai Vaazhthu and its cultural significance in Tamil Nadu.
