Cong welcomes power-sharing talks: Selvaperunthagai

Tamil Nadu Congress President Selvaperunthagai has expressed support for recent discussions on power-sharing within the state government, emphasizing that the Congress aims to establish an administration that echoes the ideals of Kamaraj.
In a recent interview, Selvaperunthagai outlined the party’s plans to strengthen its grassroots structure in Tamil Nadu. Beginning November 5, the Congress will commence restructuring village committees, aiming to complete the process by December 15. Following this, party leaders will undertake a “Village Darshan” initiative, engaging directly with rural communities and working alongside them.
“Only if the Congress remains active and robust in the villages will other parties see us as a strong ally. We welcome the current discussions on power-sharing, but decisions about alliances are to be made by our Delhi high command. We are currently part of the INDIA alliance,” he said. He recalled that in 2006, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi graciously allowed the DMK to form the state government, displaying goodwill within the alliance.
On the topic of political changes, he acknowledged actor Vijay’s entry into politics, stating it could positively contribute to the INDIA alliance’s success. The Congress party in Tamil Nadu, he emphasized, is committed to establishing a Kamaraj-style governance that serves the people.
Selvaperunthagai also remarked that Congress is anticipating a new pathway for the party in Tamil Nadu. He further noted that if the central government enforces a “One Nation, One Election” policy, it could bring a revolutionary change to Indian politics.
