The Tamil Nadu government has announced the withdrawal of cases filed against 11,608 people who protested against the tungsten mining project in Madurai.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had assured that all cases registered against the protesters would be withdrawn. Following this, four cases filed under three sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023, at Tallakulam and Melur police stations in Madurai have been officially withdrawn.
The protests were staged by locals opposing the tungsten mining project, and the government’s decision to withdraw the cases has been seen as a significant relief for the affected individuals.
