In a recent speech at a DMK event in Chennai East, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin indirectly addressed actor-politician Vijay’s weekend public outreach. Vijay has been meeting people every Saturday in different districts, which some political leaders have criticized as insufficient.Udhayanidhi remarked, “I won’t come out just only on Saturdays. I’ll be out every day, even on Sundays.” He added, “I don’t even know what day it is today—Friday or Saturday.” He emphasized that he meets people regularly, listens to their concerns, and receives their blessings.
He shared that many people give him money, often ₹1,000, which they say is for medical expenses. Udhayanidhi expressed that this shows the public’s trust in him and the need for support.
Vijay, leader of the Tamil Nadu Victory Party (TVK), has been meeting people every Saturday in two districts. He chose Saturdays to make it easier for party workers to join him. This decision has been questioned by some, but Vijay has defended it as being for the benefit of his supporters.
Udhayanidhi’s comments reflect ongoing political discussions about the effectiveness and sincerity of public outreach efforts.
